Course Title: Corporate Governance Skills

Awarding Body: The Further Education and Training Council (FETAC)
The Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) is the single national awarding body for the  further education and training sector in Ireland and is now responsible for making awards that were previously made by CERT (Now Failte Ireland), FAS, the National Council for Vocational Awards (NCVA) and Teagasc. FETAC make awards to learners on a vast range of programmes offered by providers of many different types. This course offers a FETAC Level 6 Award.

Intended Audience:
Designed to prepare individuals for the demands of today’s fast paced business environments. This course is ideal for those wishing to start a career in a business setting or for those already working in business who wish to gain a formal qualification and learm more about corporate governance.

Entry Requirements:€ 
   Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent.
€ 18 years or over.
€ Relevant Work experience.

Exemptions:
€ None at Present.

Course Details
·         Appreciate the importance of corporate governance, and of current and potential future corporate governance trends in Ireland and the EU
·         Identify the role of organisational culture, structure and process in shaping corporate decision making, accountability, controls and behaviour
·         Demonstrate an understanding of how the principles of corporate governance can be applied to different types of organisation across the private, public and not- for-profit sectors
·         Critically evaluate the extent to which their own organisations demonstrate characteristics of good and effective corporate governance
·         Appreciate the value of embedding best practice governance policies and procedures into the culture of an organisation
·         Identify the practical operational benefits that should result from the application of the principles of good governance
·         Take a more active and informed role in supporting the management of the organisations with which they are associated

The specific learning outcomes are grouped into 5 units.
·         Unit 1 Corporate Governance Framework
·         Unit 2 Institutional Structure and Governance
·         Unit 3 Governance and Compliance
·         Unit 4 Risk Management
·         Unit 5 Principles and Practice of Good Governance

Registration:
Closing date for course registration with Genesis Business College September 12th.

Duration: 10 Week Part-Time from week of Sept 28th.

Cost per Year: Tuition Fees €900. Books Extra

Further Study: Other Business Management/Studies Programmes.

This course is run from both the Kilkenny and Wexford Centres and is run subject to sufficient demand
